Won’t someone please throw up in its mouth already?

Brooke here.

If you follow me on Twitter, you’re aware the red-tailed hawks have had babies.  This sounds adorable but it is not!  No, it should sound like what it is: non-stop screaming. Apparently juvenile hawks are extremely vocal.  You know that single hawk call that chimes out over the panoramic shot of the Grand Canyon in an old western movie?  Just like that, only from about sunup to sunset.  It’s like living under an alarm clock that will bite your fingers off if you try to hit the snooze button.

And there are two of them!

We thought there was just the one.  I’ve caught them hanging out on the lawn under my office window, but never more than one hawk at a time.

HI! HI! HI! HI! HI! HI! HI! HIHIHIHIHIHELLO! HI! HI! HI!

This morning, I looked out to see two juvenile hawks on the lawn, eating their crunchy vole heads.  I couldn’t get both in the shot, but this explains why they never shut up–tag-team screamathon, bitches!--and why the dog keeps vomiting up bits of vole.
